Busch Grabs Twelfth Nationwide Series Victory in the Desert
- Updated: November 9, 2013
Kyle Busch demonstrated why he has visited victory lane 12 times in the Nationwide Series Saturday afternoon at Phoenix. Domination. Busch had little competition throughout the afternoon which allowed him to abolish the rest of the field in route to victory. Busch also closed in on Penske Racing’s No.22 team in the owners point standings with one race remaining.
Busch started the day on the pole and led until Brad Keselowski took the lead on lap 112. Busch was able to get back out front eight laps later.
A caution spree struck around lap 130 when five yellow-flags were displayed in a 23 lap portion of the race. Brad Keselowski got caught up in one of the cautions when Brian Scott got into him and turned the No.22 up into the turn 3 wall.
Busch lost the lead for a bit during the cautions, but he got back to the lead with 47 laps to go. That was the final lead change of the afternoon as Busch finished the race the same as he started. Out front. This was Busch’s twelve win of the season and he’ll look to finish out the season with 13 next weekend.
