It’s been talked about for a while now, but appears closer to reality. NBC’s MotorSportsTalk is reporting that there is a deal in place to allow Marcos Ambrose to go back home to Australia and run in the V8 Supercars next season.
While nothing official has been announced, speculation has been building as Ambrose and his Sprint Cup Series team, Richard Petty Motorsports, have been mum on the driver’s status beyond this year. It could be they’re still negotiating, or they know something we don’t know yet.
An added twist to this story is Roger Penske’s supposed involvement in the team that could be available for Ambrose to join. Apparently you can leave NASCAR, but you can’t leave your NASCAR ties behind.
