Kasey Kahne led the way with a lap of 48.563 seconds in the first practice for the Crown Royal 400 from Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Rounding out the top five was Mark Martin, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Brad Keselowski.
