Kligerman out at Brad Keselowski Racing

  • by Michael Metzger
  • August 7, 2012

Parker Kligerman posted a 7th place finish Saturday at Pocono, which has turned out to be his last start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for Brad Keselowski Racing. Monday it was announced by Kligerman and the team that they have parted ways, effective immediately. Dave Moody first broke the story early Monday.

The source of the trouble started when Penske Racing announced a few weeks back that Ryan Blaney would be driving some races for them in the #22 Discount Tire Dodge in the Nationwide Series. Those races Blaney got were penciled in for Kligerman, who was sharing the ride with his boss Brad Keselowski. Sensing his time might be up with Penske, Kligerman began talking to other teams about 2013. This talk with other teams apparently did not sit well with Keselowski, prompting this action. Both Keselowski and Kligerman have not been happy with the performance of the #29 truck all year, so change was coming now or later.

I suspect Keselowski will drive his truck for as much as he can for the rest of 2012 (confirmed by team he will be in it at Michigan next week) with an eye on getting a driver for 2013. Maybe even that Blaney guy that Penske is high on. Kligerman, currently fourth in points, is looking to secure a ride and continue to contend for the championship this year and beyond.
