David Ragan Finger Lakes 355 At The Glen Race Preview

  • August 10, 2012

STATESVILLE, N.C.  - For the first time with Front Row Motorsports, David Ragan will race at Watkins Glen this weekend.  With sponsorship from Scorpion Truck Bed Liners, Ragan has the tools to have a good finish at the road course.

Ragan will be making his sixth Sprint Cup Series result on Sunday at Watkins Glen. His best result is 24th at the track.

David Ragan on Watkins Glen: “I think I get a little upset because I’ve always wanted to have a better finish at Watkins Glen.  I never did a lot of road racing growing up, but I’ve raced enough races now that I think I’m getting better.  I at least know what the car needs to do at both road courses on the Cup circuit.  It seems each time I go back, I get a little bit better or learn a lot more.  Hopefully I can improve even more this weekend and leave with a good result.

“Watkins Glen is a really fast track.  You really carry a lot of speed around the turns and you just want to be smooth.  This track isn’t as technical as Sears Point.  It’s going to be my first time with Front Row Motorsports at the track and we’ll have Scorpion with us. They are good guys and we just want to have a good showing for them.”

Crew chief Jay Guy on Pocono: “The road courses are just different animals all together.  These cars really aren’t built to race on road courses, but the technology has made everything a lot better.  Guys have really made advances to the cars, shocks, springs and other stuff where the drivers can really put on a good race.  It’s just a matter of finding the right balance in the car.”
