Bio

Dario Franchitti is a retired Scotish racing driver.  He is a four time IndyCar Series champion (2007, 2009, 2010, 2011), a three-time winner of the Indianapolis 500 (2007, 2010, 2012) as well as a winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona (2008).

Franchitti tried his hand at NASCAR for two season in 2007 and 2008 for Chip Ganassi Racing. The 2007 season saw him make one Truck Series start and four Xfinity Series starts. For 2008, he was supposed to run full-time in the Cup Series along with a partial Xfinity Series schedule.

An injury and lack of sponsorship derailed these plans after only 10 Cup Series starts and 14 Xfinity Series starts. From there, Franchitti went back to the IndyCar series, which he ran until a career ending injury in 2013.

Currently he works for Chip Ganassi Racing as advisor to the operation’s IndyCar teams.
