Richard Petty Motorsports

Richard Petty Motorsports was created after Gillett Evernham Motorsports merged with Petty Enterprises in 2009. This created a four team operation that was owned by former driver Richard Petty, George Gillett, and former crew chief Ray Evernham.

For the 2010 season the team merged with Yates Racing and switched from Dodge to Ford. Then financial issues arose late in the 2010 season, Andrew Murstein and Douglas Bergeron bought into the organization while Evernham and Gillett exited the picture.

Bergeron was bought out by Murstein in 2014.

The team struck an alliance deal with Richard Childress Racing for 2018 and switched from Ford to Chevrolet with rookie driver Darrell Wallace Jr.
